 Reflexology for Menopause and Perimenopause

Reflexology for Menopause is a wonderful therapy, which aids and supports the body as it transitions through perimenopause and menopause.

The menopause is a natural change in the female reproductive system which normally occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, although perimenopausal symptoms may appear earlier.

It is the process in a woman’s body whereby the ovaries stop producing the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. Following the loss of these hormones, women may experience the following symptoms, some of which can be debilitating:

Hot flushes

Anxiety

Headaches

Night sweats

Palpitations

Insomnia

Mood changes

Poor concentration

Weight gain

Irregular periods with heavy bleeding

How can Reflexology aid the menopause?

Reflexology for Menopause is a holistic treatment which can help restore calmness and balance, supporting both body and mind during the journey through menopause. Reflexology for Menopause is also suitable for women who are taking HRT.

Recent studies have found that reflexology is effective at reducing hot flushes, sweats and sleep disturbances. In a study in 2016, women who had menopausal symptoms were given reflexology treatments twice weekly for six weeks. The study concluded that women reported fewer hot flushes, sweats and night sweats as a result of regular reflexology treatments (Gozuyesil & Baser, 2016).
